Hari Raya Aidilfitri
I visited a muslim family on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri with Ben family. The muslim family is a long friend of Ben family for more than 20 years, who is fondly known as Kak Uji (Sister Uji). Every year, Ben family will visit Kak Uji’s family during Hari Raya Adilfitri. Kak Uji always ensure that all the Raya food are available before Ben family pay their visit. Kak Uji’s husband and all the 4 kids were having fever and were resting when we visited. I hope the family will recover soon.
Life in kampung (village) is very relaxing and peaceful. Generally, people are very helpful towards each other. They like sitting outside of the house for the day’s news and gossips.
Food at Kak Uji’s house are always plentiful and never-ending. I guess another great thing that Malaysians love during festivals like Hari Raya Aidilfitri is the makan-makan (eating). There were 4 types of chicken curry (hot and spicy) dishes as prepared by Kak Uji. She woke up very early in the morning for the food preparation. Kak Uji is indeed a very hardworking housewife. She was telling us that she’s doing some food business too, besides taking care of her 4 kids at home. It was obvious that their family’s lifestyle improves every year. I think this is what people say about Hard Work Does Pay Off.
