Computer Game Addiction

November 26, 2008 · Filed Under Rants · 4 Comments

Does anyone have any experience in dealing with Computer Games addiction? Well, today, I made a major decision. I deleted my favourite Pastry Passion Computer Game from my hard  disk! Why did I delete it? I think I was addicted to the game. I found myself playing the game most of the time and ended up ignoring my other higher priorities things in life. I was actually at the very final stage of the Pastry Passion game. I was baking the last cake, that is, the Wedding Cake. It was a hard decision but deep down, I knew I had to do it. I asked myself, what would I achieved if I had completed all the stages. The answer was satisfaction. But then again, it was not a good justification. Definitely not at the expense of my higher priority things. I look forward to complete more important stuff in my plan.

Microsoft Office 2007 Annoying Error Message

BCM Office Addin Error Message Recently, I uninstalled the default trial version of Microsoft Office 2007 on my new computer. The trial version was valid for 90 days. Again, I have to say, great marketing skills by Mircrosoft! Immediately after the uninstallation of the trial version, I installed the Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 version. Even since that day, I always encountered an annoying pop-up error message whenever I loaded any of the Microst Office application. After some reasearch on the net, one of the suggestions was to uninstall the Business Contact Manager that came installed with the Microsoft Office 2007 trial version. I went to the Control Panel and unistall the Business Contact Manager addin as advised. Voila! It works and I no longer receive the BCM Office Addin - Office application version does not match error message.

Sharpen the Saw Habit by Stephen Covey

November 20, 2008 · Filed Under Rants · Comment

Sharpening the saw or enhancing one’s skills and knowledge is a must for everyone, especially in today’s Information Age era. As an IT professional in the IT industry, I believe very much that one needs to keep on upgrading his or her knowledge else one will easily be forgotten in the fast moving industry. I remember a colleague who seek my help in filling out an online form for internal submission. She couldn’t find the option that I mentioned to her. When I checked out her online form, I realised that she didn’t click on the down-arrow button that would have listed out all the available options. I was a pretty surprised. Afterall, my colleague had been in the IT industry for more than 20 years. The above story gives me more inspiration to stay in touch with my IT skills. Sharpen the Saw habit by Stephen Covey is a must-be-used habit in all fields.

Old and New Passports My passport will be expiring in less than 6 months time. My previous renewal experience taught me a precious lesson, that is never do the passport renewal during school holidays. The last time I renewed my passport it was near 5 years (in year 2004) and that was during school holidays. The queue at the Subang Immigration Department was extended up till the roadside.
